Kiran Datar was born and brought up in Bangalore. After completing his M.S. from Columbia University, Datar, along with a childhood friend, decided to set up web-conferencing outfit Cyberbazaar. During the dotcom bust, CyberBazaar emerged as a market leader in the conferencing solutions space. WebEx Communications Inc, the world's largest conferencing solutions firm, acquired CyberBazaar in 2005.
